WILLIAM BRADLEY LAMOND RBA (1857-1924) Biography

WIlliam Lamond was born in Newtyre near Dundee and worked for many years on the Caledonian Railways. He developed an early talent for portrait painting from where he made a great name for himself. He later turned to landscapes and painted vigorous impressionistic scenes in oil - with a strong use of colour. His lack of formal training resulted in a direct and powerful style - making his work highly collected today.
