WILLIAM MARSHALL BROWN R.S.A. R.S.W. (1863-1936) Biography
William Marshall Brown was a Scottish artist recognised for his landscapes and figurative work. He was born in Edinburgh where he studied at the College of Art and the Royal Scottish Academy’s Life School, also working as a wood engraver and book illustrator.
He won the Chambers Bursary and Stewart Prize and was later awarded a bronze medal for anatomical studies at the Royal School, South Kensington.
His work is held in many museums including the City of Edinburgh Collection, the Harrogate Art Gallery and the Kirkcaldy Art Gallery in Scotland
